DRY HAIR??? ARE YOU THE CAUSE? FIND OUT WHY YOU HAIR IS DRY AND HOW YOU CAN FIX IT

Got some spare time on your hands???

Let us give you a few tips and hacks to get your hair healthy and shiny for summer.

We are all guilty of neglecting our hair and not giving it the love and attention, it needs. Just like our bodies our hair wants to be nurtured too.

Dry hair is one of the most common problems people complain about and customers are constantly looking for ways to get their hair feeling soft and looking healthy.

There are lots of reasons you may have dry hair.

#HEALTHY DIET

A well-balanced diet is essential for healthy hair. So, if you want luscious locks start watching what you eat.

Load up on omega-3s (salmon, nuts, and seeds) and antioxidants (berries, beans, and spinach) both of which are known to promote healthy hair.  Try adding these into the diet to give your hair a healthy start

Yes, it’s true “YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT “

#OVERWASHING

We are a society of “Over washers “Excess shampooing can strip your hair of its natural oils so try and wash your hair no more than 3 times a week.

A simple 3 step process (Shampoo Conditioner and Mask) as part of your hair care regime is always the best option. Healthy hair is easier to style and way more manageable.

ALWAYS use a shampoo that has been recommended for your hair. Your hairdresser is the best person to help you take the guesswork out. We highly recommend sulfate-free products as they are gentler.

Kevin Murphy and Davines have a great selection of Sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to choose from

#HEAT STYLING

Heat styling tools such and curling tongs and irons can be extremely damaging to your hair. Try limiting their use as much as possible.

If ironing and blow drying is part of your daily routine, then you MUST use a quality heat protection product to prevent damage every time.

A quality hair/styling brush is also important as a poor-quality brush can tear at the hair causing breakage. EVO has a great range of natural bristle brushes.

Once the damage is done it can take years to get your hair back to health, so this is one product you should not be without.

Our Favourite is Sebastian trilliant protection spray.

#HARSH ELEMENTS

We all love Summer in Australia. Nothing beats an ice-cold drink by the pool listening to your favourite beats, but unfortunately, our hair does not feel the same.

Continuous washing and drying each time we have a swim can be torture for your hair. Whether it’s swimming at the beach or in a pool the salt and chemicals in the water can play havoc on your hair causing it to feel dry and brittle.

Whenever possible try to rinse your hair with fresh water before it the salt and chemicals dry into the hair.

Leave-in conditioners are a great idea to pack into your beach bag, try reapplying each time you apply your sunscreen. This will add an extra layer of protection while swimming and sunbathing. Juuce Smooth Enz

We always recommend wearing a hat to help prevent the sun from fading your colour and to protect your scalp.

Regular weekly treatments and serums/oils will really help replenish moisture making your hair feel softer and more manageable. Try Wella SP Luxeoil Keratin Restore Mask

#OVER COLOURING

Colouring your hair can become addictive and we are all tempted to change our hair colour every season. It can be extremely damaging to your hair if done too often or not done with caution.

Bleaching is the most damaging process and should always be done by a professional. Try to stick to colours that are 2 -3 shades from your natural colour to avoid over bleaching. Ombre is a great option for achieving a lighter look without as much damage.

Talk to your hairdresser about adding a coloured shampoo into your routine to help stop brassiness and to keep colours fresher for longer.

Fabuloso is a great range to consider.

#REGULAR HAIRCUTS

Regular haircuts are a must for long healthy locks. We recommend and trim every 6-8 weeks to keep those ends feeling healthy.

Not trimming regularly will only cause the ends to split further leaving them looking frizzy and dull and making your hair harder to manage.

Try re-booking your next appointment each time you have your haircut that way is locked in. Your hair will love you for it.

Summer is just around the corner so now is the perfect time to start treating your hair to some TLC.
